Frequently Asked Questions About Our Bio-Nutrition Program

Do you accept Insurance?

Although we are a participating provider for Medicare and most major insurance companies for our Chiropractic services, this is not the case when it comes to lab testing and nutrition consultations.  You will need to call your insurance company and ask if they cover blood tests and other services ordered by a Chiropractor.

Be sure to document the date and time and the person you spoke with. All services are paid in full at the time of service. Should your insurance company confirm there will be full or partial reimbursement for services, we will provide you with a super bill for you to bill your own insurance. What is the cost of treatment?

The initial Bio-Nutrition consultation with Dr. Hunt is $150. During your consultation, Dr. Hunt will determine what testing needs to be performed. Every person is different, so it really depends on your particular health problems. More complex or serious conditions will likely require more extensive testing.

What tests are required?

Every person is different, so it really depends on your particular case. Most of our patients, however, elect to do one of our Comprehensive Blood panels to get started.

What testing can I do through your office?

Any blood test, toxic elements assessments [blood, hair, and urine], urinalysis, stool testing, food intolerance testing, and saliva hormone testing.

How long does it take to get the test results back?

If you do the testing through our office, it usually takes no more than two weeks to get all of the test results back and your personalized detailed report completed!

Why do I have to complete my paperwork at least 24 hours prior to my appointment?

Our goal is to provide you with the most comprehensive health consultation possible. By providing your paperwork prior to your appointment Dr. Hunt will be able to review your case extensively before your consultation time. This will allow Dr. Hunt to maximize your time with him and allow him to focus on your most concerning health issues.

Can Dr. Hunt use my previous lab tests to evaluate my health and create a protocol?

Dr. Hunt finds previous lab work extremely useful in evaluating your health and making health recommendations for you.  Lab work older than 3 months, however, often needs to be repeated due to rapid changes in your body and is best used for comparison purposes and evaluating health changes.

If you do plan on submitting any previous lab work we ask that you submit it with your new patient paperwork at least 24 hours prior to your consultation.  This will allow Dr. Hunt to evaluate it and prepare any health recommendations you may need at your consult.

Do I have to purchase the supplements from Hunt For Wellness?

Of course not! Our job is to make sure that what you are doing is working. The supplements we recommend in our office are the products that we have experience with and have been shown to make the changes in the blood work we would like to see.

Generally, you can get these same supplements in a health food store or online but you may find they are cheaper through our office. Be sure to meticulously check the dosage when comparing prices. You can use the supplements of your choosing but make sure you are getting the correct dosage and most importantly, get re-tested to make sure the supplements are working for you.

Can I get my blood work done through my other doctor?

Of course! You may get your blood work done through another doctor. However, it would be prudent for you to check your pricing thoroughly. Most patients find the price will usually be less if you get it through Hunt For Wellness. Plus, because Hunt For Wellness does not participate with insurance companies, any findings will not go on your permanent record.

Remember, if you decide to go through your insurance company for reimbursement, the test findings will go on your permanent record and will affect future premiums and ratings.

Do You Take Patients Who Are Out Of State?

Yes! We can set up phone consultations and we have the ability to order the testing you need from anywhere in the United States. We do however, strongly recommended that you have a face to face consultation with Dr. Hunt at least once.

What makes you different from other”nutritionists” or “health professionals”?

We use scientific objective testing in our analysis and recommendations and we see objective results. We do not simply rely on questionnaires or practitioner testing to evaluate your health. Some of the diagnostic testing we use are blood testing, toxic and elemental hair testing, food allergy testing (ALCAT and Elisa), DMSA urinary challenge, and hormone saliva testing. We get our great results because we test and we use objective testing methods.

How long will it take before I start to see improvement in my health problems?

Understand that we don’t have a cure for your problem whether it is a rash, MS, diabetes, high cholesterol or cancer. Our goal is to get you healthier. Progress is the key and there should be some definite, objective improvement as we work with you. Most of our clients notice improvement in their health within a couple of weeks.

Our goal is to keep you improving on a consistent basis. Sometimes a 2-3% improvement initially could be the best that we can hope for but if you continue to improve 2-3% every couple months on a consistent basis, it’s just a matter of time until your full health is regained! Of coarse, we make no guarantees that you will completely eliminate your symptoms and your improvement is directly dependent upon your compliance.
